The Kaduna State Climate Change Accountability Mechanism (KADCCAM) has commended Transparency and Accountability in Totality Initiative (TinT–Follow Taxes) for the successful completion of a one-day workshop on policy dialogue on climate change, gender, and care work in Kaduna State.

The Co-Chair of KADCCAM, Ibrahima Yakubu, expressed gratitude on behalf of the mechanism to TinT–Follow Taxes following the successful convening of the workshop, which brought together key stakeholders working on climate change, gender inclusion, and care-related issues in the state.

In a statement issued shortly after the event, he praised the initiative for organizing a timely and impactful programme aimed at strengthening efforts on climate action and environmental protection.

He noted that discussions at the workshop focused on empowering women care workers in vulnerable communities to enhance climate resilience and adaptation, as well as showcasing community-level interventions and their impact on women’s empowerment and environmental sustainability.

Ibrahima also commended the initiative for promoting women as Climate Champions (CC), adding that participants were trained on the production of eco-friendly cooking stoves and briquette charcoal as part of efforts to support green skills and sustainable livelihoods.

He further acknowledged the contributions of the two paper presenters, including Ashafa Abdulsalam, who presented research findings on climate change and care work in Kaduna and Taraba States, as well as another presentation on project interventions, community testimonies, and green skills initiatives.

He also expressed appreciation to the Lead Director of TinT–Follow Taxes, Haliru Ahmed Khalipha, for organizing the workshop, which brought together civil society organizations, representatives of the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment, and members of KADCCAM.

Ibrahima called on stakeholders to strengthen collaboration between government institutions and civil society organizations in order to advance climate resilience and sustainable development in Kaduna State.
