The kaduna State branch of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), in collaboration with the Kaduna Multi-Door Courthouse (KDMDC), hosted a breakfast event for newsmen on Friday. This marked the maiden edition of the “Breakfast with Media” event.
The gathering attracted journalists from both mainstream and new media outlets.
In her welcome remarks, the Chairperson of FIDA Kaduna, Barr. Funke Bamikole, commended the journalists for their impressive turnout at the Multi-Door Court ADR Conference Room, High Court Complex, Bida Road, Kaduna, despite the short notice. She highlighted the importance of partnering with the Fourth Estate of the Realm, stressing that the media plays a vital role in shaping the image of both FIDA and KDMDC. She noted that the media’s support could significantly benefit the two organizations, which was the primary purpose of the breakfast gathering.
Bamikole emphasized the unity between the media, FIDA, and KDMDC/ADR, expressing hope for stronger collaboration moving forward.

Also speaking at the event, the Director of KDMDC/ADR, Her Worship Dorcas Levy Daniel, provided an overview of the Multi-Door Courthouse, noting that the name reflects the center’s diverse services, including Mediation, Arbitration, and Conciliation.
H/W Daniel explained that the center also focuses on training and capacity building at various levels. “We offer foundational mediation training for those with no prior experience, as well as intermediate training such as refresher courses to enhance mediation skills. Additionally, we provide specialized training, including trauma management and more,” she said.
She further explained that the meeting aimed to seek collaboration in various areas between FIDA, KDMDC/ADR, and the media.

The Deputy Director of Arbitration and Mediation at KDMDC/ADR, Her Worship Sa’adatu Hamma, reflected on the center’s progress over the past year, highlighting the rebranding and revitalization of the Multi-Door Courthouse. She noted that the event was meant to establish a tripartite partnership between KDMDC/ADR, FIDA Kaduna, and the media, emphasizing the importance of working together for mutual success.
H/W Hamma explained, “KDMDC/ADR aims to provide relief, support, and ease for the common man. Our core services include Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), but we also offer counseling and restorative justice.”
In addition to the usual Mediation, Conciliation, and Arbitration, H/W Hamma mentioned that the center has even more to offer through FIDA’s network.
H/W Hamma further revealed that the event was not a one-time occurrence, but would be held quarterly. She added, “We plan to create a WhatsApp group to share updates on the organizations’ activities. Journalists will no longer need to search for news, as all newsworthy updates will be shared on the platform as they happen. And as we expand, we will extend our outreach to local government areas.”

She concluded by noting that the model established during the event could be replicated in other states across the country.
