The Arewa Cohesion for Justice, Unity and Development Initiative has called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts toward ending the rising insecurity threatening the peace and stability of Nigeria.

The Director General of the organization, Dr. Abdullahi Idris, expressed deep sorrow over the death of retired Nigerian Army Major General, Rabe Abubakar, who was abducted by bandits in Katsina State alongside his wife and later died in captivity.

According to reports, the abduction occurred on May 30 and was widely condemned across the country.

In a condolence statement issued to the press, the organization sympathized with the bereaved family and the people of Northern Nigeria over the tragic loss.

The group urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen security measures and demonstrate greater commitment toward addressing the growing security challenges affecting lives and livelihoods, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

Dr. Idris further noted that insecurity has severely disrupted agricultural activities this year, warning that continued attacks by bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists are undermining food production and rural livelihoods.

He also appealed for urgent efforts to secure the release of students from Oyo and Borno States who are still in captivity, as well as all other innocent citizens held hostage in various locations.

While commending the Nigerian military for its continued efforts in combating insecurity, he stressed the need for improved funding, modern equipment, and enhanced support for security agencies to effectively confront banditry and kidnapping across the country.
