On Tuesday JEWEL Environmental Initiative (JEI) brought environmental science to life by hosting the students of Safsat Academy School for an intensive, hands-on educational excursion at the Kanawa Forest Reserve.

The students began their day with an in-depth briefing that connected history with modern environmental challenges, Learning the rich history of the Kanawa Forest Reserve and understanding the intense pressure it faces from neighboring community encroachment.

On a separate session the students were briefed on past and ongoing conservation triumphs of major World Bank-funded projects, including NEWMAP (Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project) and ACReSAL (Gombe State Acresal).

The Role of how JEI works tirelessly on the ground to empower students with the critical information and tools needed to become the next generation of climate advocates.

From Soil to Canopy, this wasn’t just a walk in the woods the students were in a comprehensive sustainable forest practices and natural sciences

JEWEL Environmental Initiative emphasizes on studying the unique biodiversity and distinct structural layers of a savanna forest ecosystem.

Examining local land and water formations to see how the forest acts as a natural shield against erosion and degradation. Learning the technical skills behind seed propagation and nurturing young saplings for future afforestation.

Our goal remains thesame which is ensuring that every single student who steps into Kanawa Forest Reserve understands the vital importance of this natural ecosystem.

We are not just teaching environmental science, we are building an army of eco-heroes.

Catch them young, watch them grow, and protect the ecosystem!
