As Christians around the world celebrate Easter after completing 40 days of fasting and prayer during Lent, a group of Muslims visited Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru, General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry in Sabon Tasha, Kaduna.
The visit, led by Mallam Gambo Abdullahi from Barnawa, was aimed at congratulating Christians on successfully completing the Lenten season.
Gambo explained that the gesture was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen interfaith relationships and promote peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in the state.
“This year’s Lent coincided with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, offering both Muslims and Christians the opportunity to deepen their spiritual commitments,” Gambo said.
He also highlighted a significant interfaith event—the joint breaking of fast held at the Catholic Social Centre in Kaduna—as a sign of growing unity.
Gambo prayed for continued peace and harmony in Kaduna and called on religious leaders and stakeholders to support initiatives that encourage tolerance, understanding, and forgiveness across all faiths.
In response, Pastor Yohanna Buru expressed his gratitude, noting that he had received numerous goodwill messages from various faith-based organizations across Nigeria.
He emphasized the need for Nigerians to remain prayerful and committed to national peace, especially in the face of ongoing security challenges.
The pastor also commended both state and federal governments for their efforts in tackling insecurity and fostering unity in the region.
Additionally, Pastor Buru appealed to wealthy individuals to always remember the poor, especially internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable groups in society.
