Science Journalist Praises Gov. Sani for Advancing Girls’ Education in Science After Visiting State’s Three Girls’ Science Schools
Ibrahima Yakubu, a science and climate journalist with African Climate Reporters (ACR) and a member of the governing board at the African Institute of Waste Management and Environmental Studies, recently toured all three girls’ science secondary schools in the state.
Yakubu emphasized the importance of such visits, particularly for supporting girls’ education and strengthening the collaborative efforts of the state government and other stakeholders.
After touring the schools, which are equipped with state-of-the-art digital tools, modern laboratory equipment, well-designed classrooms, and an optimal learning environment, Yakubu commended the initiative.
He praised Governor Uba Sani for the innovative decision to establish exclusive science schools for girls, designed to inspire and encourage young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, medicine, and other scientific fields.
“This is the first initiative of its kind in Northern Nigeria,” Yakubu noted.
He also urged other regional governors to follow suit, explaining that such initiatives would significantly boost the morale of young girls and encourage more of them to pursue science and technology.
Yakubu further acknowledged the positive impact of the state’s investment in science education, especially with the commissioning of six new science secondary schools by Governor Sani. These efforts are expected to increase girls’ enrollment in science and technology-related disciplines.
During his visit to the three schools—located in Hunkuyi, Rigachikum, and Kagarko-Jere—Yakubu praised the state governor’s efforts and the remarkable progress made in promoting girls’ science education
