Pastor Yohanna Buru Leads 100+ Religious Leaders in Prayer for Peace as Nigeria Turns 64

As Nigeria approaches its 64th Independence Day, Pastor (Dr.) Yohanna Buru, National Coordinator of the Network of Religious Peacemakers in Nigeria (NRPMN), has mobilized over 100 Christian and Muslim leaders, both online and offline, to dedicate more time towards praying peace and unity in the country

Dr. Buru, a recognized winner of the United Nations World International Interfaith Week and Harmony Award, called on all citizens to engage in prayers for the nation’s peace.

He shared this message with the press in anticipation of the October 1st independence day celebration.

In addition to being the General Overseer of the Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry in Kaduna, Dr. Buru is the founder of the Peace Revival and Reconciliation Foundation of Nigeria. He highlighted that annually he sent messages to hundreds clerics to used 2 days in their places of worship—mosques and churches—to pray for the nation for peace and unity

He emphasized that Nigeria needs prayers now more than ever, urging religious leaders across all 36 states to join in this vital call for peace and unity.

With the Federal Government designating Tuesday as a public holiday for Independence Day, Dr. Buru urged all citizens to be law-abiding.

In a similar vein, Imam Iliyas Husaine, Chief Imam of Udawa Central Mosque and Morchi of Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI) in Kaduna, encouraged Islamic scholars to pray for peace in the country. In a phone interview, he remarked, “What Nigeria needs at this moment is prayer for peace and unity.”

He further emphasized the importance of dedicating more prayers for Kaduna State and the nation as a whole as Nigeria celebrates its 64th anniversary
