Report on MIU Graduation Ceremony on the Foundations in Business

The ceremony was held to honor the achievements of the graduating students which motivated them to embrace the future with determination and a sense of purpose. The ceremony added depth and significance, making it a memorable ground-breaking period for the graduating students as part of their educational achievement. The event commenced at 9:00am with registration, individual prayers, and an introduction to invited guests. After the introductory session,

0it was followed with rendition of the National Anthem thereby setting the tone for the day. Important dignitaries were in attendance at the event that included a health practitioner, media representatives, elected officials, traditional/religious leaders, women representatives, well-wishers and family members.

 

Course Overview

Rev. Michael Ikpa delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the significance of the graduation ceremony. He explained the concept of graduation and convocation in tertiary institutions, particularly that of Management International University (MIU). Rev. Ikpa congratulated all the graduating students and highlighted that while some students were graduating, others have shown their interest in enrolling, making the event a celebration of academic achievement and new beginnings. He outlined the course structure, which consisted of 14 weeks of learning, followed by a business plan submission in the 15th week. The course content covered topics such as business management, entrepreneurship, and business planning. He emphasized on the importance of the knowledge gained, stating that the MIU business plan template was of standard to that of many Universities. Rev. Ikpa encouraged attendees to leverage the course to uplift themselves and their families.

 

Welcome Address &

Mr Samson Auta, the course coordinator called on the students, media, invited dignitaries at the occasion, by giving them a warm welcome on this important day. He said that it was a privilege and an honor to dignitaries in our midst to distinguish stakeholders in the city of Kaduna. He welcomed those attending the event for the first time to feel at home. He reiterated the commitment of Management International University (MIU) towards the successful completion of the Foundations in Business course by providing the necessary platform for the students to participate in their studies, interactive session with the one on one meeting with students that need support in areas that they felt they need support and clarification.

 

He further stated, that it is an honor and a privilege to have achieve another milestone in the history of MIU in Kaduna State as we join in celebrating the graduating students on the course ‘Foundations in Business’ The event was really colorful which can be said to have given all in attendance sense of gratitude to MIU for the impact it is making and in the advancement of students to identify their potentials in actualizing their dreams from their various field of endeavors. He further highlighted the coming of MIU to Nigeria and how it is touching and improving lives within communities.

 

Goodwill Messages

Mr. Ibrahima Yakubu, a veteran journalist, welcomed everyone and shared his experiences in his studies and in reporting on crisis resolution. He praised the participants that took part during the 15 weeks course for its relevance, highlighting how it has equipped them with the needed skills to tackle poverty and unemployment at community level.

 

Rev. Michael Ikpa introduced Pastor Yohanna Y.D. Buru, who expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate and he highly commended MIU for making education accessible. He pledged to encourage more students to join future courses.

 

Honorable Ishaku Chwazah Ayuba a legislator that represented Chikun local government area in the past government, also delivered his goodwill message, appreciating the impact of MIU on the beneficiaries in Kaduna State and advising graduates to apply the knowledge they gained in their daily lives.

 

Other remark was said by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development in person of Ali Duniya who also applaud the good gesture of MIU and for them, the Ministry representing the Conflict Management and Mitigation Regional Council (CMMRC), he said the the Ministry focuses in encouraging business registration and empowering youth and women to attain their height in their educational pursuit. He said that he is happy with the coming of Management International University (MIU) by inspiring and preparing students to make a difference in our State by equipping them to become innovative, collaborative and ethical ethos of the University.

 

MIU President’s Speech

James Holmes, President of MIU, addressed the audience via a virtual recorded message. He congratulated the students on their accomplishments, and said that studies are difficult and need a lot of dedication. He shared his appreciation to the tutors and for the coordination of the students during the course of the course. He said as students we need to strive to be successful leader, with

Ethical qualities, some who know what is right and wrong. As part of his remarks he called for partnership and keeping with ones contacts and strong networks so that you can have them in your data bank for future opportunities. He also emphasized for one to have strong work ethics with vision, because there are times that things can be good and turn out to be bad, when things don’t go our way. He shared this based on his 20 years in this venture and encouraged them to apply their knowledge in their businesses, public service, and other areas. Holmes emphasized the importance of strong ethics, visionary thinking, and networking in achieving success. He stated that we need to make social impact and to be unifyers so as to make a meaningful impact in life.

 

Motivational Presentation by Invited Guests

Rev. Michael Ikpa introduced Mr. Samson Auta as the new National Coordinator of the Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC). Mr. Samson Auta expressed his gratitude to the students for their commitment and assured them that future courses hold more opportunity with commitment and determination from the students and tutors alike. He thanked all the invited dignitaries for their participation and pleaded with them to avail themselves in future engagements.

Student Testimonials

Some of the students shared her experiences, including Sarah Gambo Nmadu, who detailed her initial struggles with the coursework and eventual success because of the knowledge gained through the period of the training on the course. She emphasized the transformative impact of the course on her business ventures and community initiatives.

 

Blessing Eko Sunday said she is excited to share about my accomplishments. She has successfully started and registered three businesses since joining MIU; as she is able to organize and manage Events, ventured into Fish and Snails farming. She said that the training has enabled her to train others. She finally expressed her heartfelt gratitude to MIU for their invaluable support in shaping her into a confident entrepreneur. She appreciates the accomplishments and is eager to keep developing and succeeding.

 

Margaret Kwa’ada Julius, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible opportunity to study Business Foundation at your esteemed institution. The privilege of receiving this education for free has been an invaluable experience for me, and I am deeply appreciative of the quality and depth of knowledge I have gained.

Throughout the course, I have learned concepts and principles that were entirely new to me, and they have significantly broadened my understanding of business. I am committed to applying what I have learned by working diligently, upholding strong business ethics, and fostering partnerships. Additionally, I will maintain relationships with my colleagues, building a strong network and database of contacts to support one another’s growth. I am truly inspired by the outstanding work of Management International University, and I will continue to promote its good name and spread the word about the wonderful opportunities it provides to others.

After sharing some of their personal and success stories, it was followed by the presentation of certificates to the deserving students by the invited guests marking the culmination of their journey on the Foundations in Business course. The graduates took and affirmed their commitment to be part of MIU alumni so as to share the family of Management International University (MIU).

 

Comments:

Eric John, reflected on some of the stories shared by students and said this is really encouraging and motivating graduates to strive for excellence. He encouraged the students to face challenges with confidence and make a positive impact in their respective fields. He said that, whoever has talent, holds a future for himself/herself. As every aspect of life counts and it should make us. He pointed out that these days job opportunities are more in the private sector than in the public space which is what we need to understand and to appreciate.

Closing Remarks
Honorable Ishaku Ayuba Chawazah delivered the closing remarks, encouraging students to apply their newfound knowledge to their careers and businesses. He also mentioned that some students might use their certificates to pursue opportunities abroad. He thanked all the students and invited guests who participated in one way or another towards contributing to the success of MIU programs in Kaduna. He said he believes that with what they have acquired during the period of the course will enable them to be competent so as to perform better in life, only that you need to be focus as challenges is bound to come, but with the skills you have learned it will give you the ability to stay strong and be successful. He prayed to all for a safe trip back to their various destinations and hoped to see another set of students joining on the course outlined for the next class.
