The Kaduna State Climate Change Accountability Mechanism (KADCCAM) has congratulated the Kaduna State Government and the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources on the successful hosting of the World Environment Day 2026 celebration.
In a statement made available to the press on behalf of KADCCAM, the Co-Chair, Ibrahima Yakubu, described the event as a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to promote environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and sustainable development.

Yakubu commended the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources for its exemplary leadership, dedication, and commitment in organizing and coordinating the event, which brought together government officials, development partners, environmental experts, civil society organizations, community leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to deliberate on pressing environmental and climate issues.
According to him, the successful hosting of World Environment Day 2026 demonstrates Kaduna State’s growing recognition of the importance of environmental protection and climate action in achieving sustainable economic and social development.
“The Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources deserves special commendation for providing a platform that encouraged dialogue, collaboration, and public awareness on environmental conservation and climate change. The success of this event reflects the Ministry’s commitment to advancing environmental governance and sustainable environmental practices across the state,” Yakubu stated.

He noted that environmental challenges such as climate change, deforestation, land degradation, pollution, flooding, and biodiversity loss continue to threaten livelihoods and ecosystems, making it imperative for governments, institutions, and citizens to work together in addressing these challenges.
The KADCCAM Co-Chair further applauded the Honourable Commissioner, the management and staff of the Ministry, partner organizations, sponsors, and all participants whose contributions ensured the success of the celebration.
He emphasized that World Environment Day is not only a day of reflection but also a call to action for individuals and institutions to adopt environmentally responsible practices that contribute to a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient society.
KADCCAM reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and other relevant stakeholders in promoting climate accountability, environmental sustainability, climate adaptation, and mitigation initiatives across the state.

The organization expressed confidence that the outcomes of the World Environment Day 2026 celebration would inspire stronger partnerships and practical actions toward building a greener and more sustainable Kaduna State for present and future generations.
