On the occasion of World Environment Day, the non-governmental organization Make Argungu Green 2026 has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development within the Argungu Emirate and its surrounding communities.

Make Argungu Green 2026 is a community-driven environmental initiative established by the Argungu Emirate Community Development Network (AECDN). The initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability, combat desertification, reduce the impact of climate change, and encourage active community participation in preserving and protecting the environment for future generations.

Speaking on the organization’s vision and objectives, the Coordinator, Haliru Abubakar Jantullu, stated that the initiative has developed strategic plans to launch extensive tree-planting campaigns across communities within the emirate. According to him, the campaign is designed to address the growing challenges of desertification, deforestation, and other forms of environmental degradation that threaten livelihoods, biodiversity, and agricultural productivity in the region.

He emphasized that tree planting remains one of the most effective and sustainable approaches to restoring degraded land, improving air quality, conserving biodiversity, and mitigating the effects of climate change. The organization also intends to engage youth groups, traditional institutions, schools, farmers, and other stakeholders in environmental awareness and conservation activities.

Jantullu called on residents, development partners, government agencies, and private organizations to support the initiative, stressing that environmental protection is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation of all members of society.

As communities around the world commemorate World Environment Day, Make Argungu Green 2026 hopes to inspire a culture of environmental stewardship and create a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future for the people of Argungu and beyond.
