The Argungu Emirate Community Development Network (AECDN) has announced plans to launch a large-scale tree planting campaign aimed at combating desertification, deforestation, and other forms of environmental degradation in Kebbi State.

In a statement released to the press by the coordinator, Haliru Abubakar Jantullu, the organization said the campaign will commence at the end of June 2026 as part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability in Argungu Local Government Area.
He noted that tree planting plays a vital role in addressing extreme heat and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
As part of the “Make Argungu Green 2026” initiative, AECDN aims to plant over 5,000 trees across the eleven wards of Argungu Local Government Area. The organization also called on residents to plant trees within their own communities as part of collective efforts to protect the environment.

The project is designed to raise awareness on environmental conservation, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.
According to the organizers, an Environmental Awareness Campaign and Rally will hold on 5th June 2026 at Kanta Memorial Stadium, Argungu, to mark World Environment Day, followed by a grand tree planting exercise scheduled for 28th June 2026.
The initiative seeks to bring together youths, community leaders, schools, organizations, government agencies, and development partners in a collective effort to build a greener and more sustainable Argungu.

Motto: Plant Today, Protect Tomorrow
Vision: To transform Argungu into a model green community through environmental stewardship, community engagement, and sustainable development.
