The Kaduna State Climate Change Accountability Mechanism (KADCCAM) has congratulated the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture on the successful completion of a one-day stakeholders’ workshop aimed at gathering inputs for the Kaduna State Agriculture, Livelihoods and Natural Resources Strategy (2026–2030).

In a statement signed by Rev. Michael Ijah Ikpa, Co-Lead of the Agricultural Sector of KADCCAM, the organization described the workshop as timely and impactful, noting that it provided a unique platform for farmers, development partners, civil society organizations, private sector actors, and other stakeholders to contribute to the development of a comprehensive strategy for the agricultural sector in Kaduna State.

Rev. Ikpa commended the FAO and the Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture for their commitment to promoting inclusive participation in agricultural planning and policy formulation.

He stated that the workshop served as an important avenue for knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement, and the exchange of ideas on how to improve agricultural productivity, livelihoods, and natural resource management across the state.

According to him, the initiative demonstrates the determination of both organizations to ensure that the voices of farmers and other critical stakeholders are reflected in policies and programmes that will shape the future of agriculture in Kaduna State over the next five years.

He further noted that the workshop helped participants gain a better understanding of current challenges facing the agricultural sector, while also identifying practical solutions that can enhance food security, create employment opportunities, and strengthen climate resilience among farming communities.

Similarly, the Co-Chair of KADCCAM, Comrade Ibrahima Yakubu, praised the organizers for successfully hosting what he described as a productive and well-coordinated event. He said the quality of discussions and the active participation of stakeholders reflected the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable agricultural development.

Comrade Yakubu emphasized that agriculture remains a critical sector for economic growth and poverty reduction in Kaduna State, adding that initiatives such as the stakeholders’ workshop are essential for developing strategies that respond to the realities and needs of local communities.

He expressed optimism that recommendations and contributions made during the workshop would be carefully considered and incorporated into the final Kaduna State Agriculture, Livelihoods and Natural Resources Strategy (2026–2030).

KADCCAM also applauded the FAO and the Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture for providing a platform that encourages dialogue, partnership, and collective action among stakeholders. The organization noted that effective collaboration between government institutions, development agencies, farmers, and civil society groups is crucial for achieving sustainable agricultural transformation and environmental sustainability.

The organization therefore called for the continued engagement of stakeholders throughout the implementation phase of the strategy to ensure that its objectives are achieved and that the benefits reach farming communities across Kaduna State.

KADCCAM reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote climate-smart agriculture, environmental sustainability, food security, and improved livelihoods for the people of Kaduna State.
