The Co-Chair of the Kaduna State Climate Change Accountability Mechanism (KADCCAM), Ibrahima Yakubu, has paid a strategic advocacy visit to the Kaduna State Ministry of Information to deepen collaboration on climate action and environmental awareness across the state.
Receiving the Co-Chair, the Commissioner for Information, Mallam Ahmed Mai-Yaki, expressed appreciation for the visit and commended KADCCAM for its proactive engagement. He described the mechanism as a vital platform that will support the state government in sensitizing the public on climate change, environmental sustainability, and the dangers associated with environmental degradation.

The Commissioner emphasized that effective communication and sustained public enlightenment are critical in driving climate action, encouraging responsible environmental practices, and fostering positive behavioral change among citizens

Speaking during the meeting, Yakubu explained that the visit forms part of KADCCAM’s ongoing advocacy initiatives since its inauguration in January 2026.
He noted that the mechanism has continued to engage ministries, agencies, and development partners to strengthen coordination, accountability, and climate governance in Kaduna State.

He stressed that the Ministry of Information plays a central role in amplifying climate messages and mobilizing citizens to adopt climate-smart and environmentally friendly practices.
Yakubu further commended the Kaduna State Government for introducing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses aimed at reducing air pollution.
He also applauded the reinstatement of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise and Operation Tsafta, describing them as practical steps toward improving environmental cleanliness and public health.

He concluded by appreciating the government’s sustained efforts to address desertification, deforestation, and other environmental challenges affecting both people and biodiversity in the state.
