The Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture has received the Kaduna State Climate Change Accountability Mechanism (KADCCAM) team on an advocacy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration on climate accountability and environmental protection.

The Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Murtala Mohammad Dabo, welcomed the delegation to his office, marking the team’s first official visit since the launch of the Kaduna State Climate Change Accountability Mechanism two weeks ago. The initiative is designed to support government efforts in addressing climate change and tackling various forms of environmental degradation across the state.

Speaking during the meeting, the Commissioner highlighted the significant impact of climate change on the agricultural sector. He noted that flooding of farmlands, riverbank erosion, desertification, deforestation, and other environmental challenges continue to threaten farmers’ livelihoods. He stressed the importance of collective action and strategic partnerships to mitigate these effects and safeguard the state’s agricultural productivity.

He commended KADCCAM for the initiative and expressed the Ministry’s readiness to strengthen collaboration in advancing climate resilience and environmental sustainability.

In his remarks, the Co-Chair of KADCCAM, Comrade Ibrahima Yakubu, stated that the visit was aimed at building stronger relationships with key ministries, development partners, and stakeholders.

He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to combat climate change, desertification, deforestation, and other environmental challenges affecting all sectors of society.

He appreciated the Commissioner for the warm reception and reaffirmed KADCCAM’s commitment to supporting the state’s environmental and climate action agenda.
