Kaduna Communities Embrace Unity as NGO Celebrates International Day of Peaceful Living
As the world prepares to observe the United Nations’ International Day of Living Together in Peace on May 16th, the Peace Revival and Reconciliation Foundation of Nigeria(PRRFON) has joined the call for greater unity and interfaith harmony.
Speaking in Kaduna, the foundation’s National President, Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru, emphasized the need for initiatives that strengthen peaceful coexistence among Christians, Muslims, and people of all faiths.
He made the remarks while receiving a delegation of Islamic scholars at his home in Sabon Tasha, Kaduna South.
Pastor Buru highlighted that the purpose of the UN-designated day is to promote global peace, tolerance, inclusion, and mutual understanding.
“This day encourages us all to work together, embrace our differences, and build a world rooted in harmony and solidarity,” he said.
He stressed the importance of unity and listening to one another, noting that the day also serves as a platform for dialogue and compassion across communities.
He also announced that his organization would be partnering with faith leaders and local groups to host peace and reconciliation activities throughout the weekend.
In response, Mallam Gambo Abdullahi from Barnawa said their visit was to show appreciation to Pastor Buru for his continued efforts in promoting peace.
He commended the pastor for visiting Muslim leaders during Ramadan and participating in Iftar meals, as well as for distributing food items to the less privileged and supporting the release of Muslim inmates so they could fast at home with their families.
