Nasarawa/Kudenda, April 27, 2025 –
In a stirring and impactful session yesterday, Margaret Kwa’ada Julius was warmly received by the Kilba (Huba) Christian Association (KCA) Nasarawa/Kudenda Unit, where she spearheaded a groundbreaking Biblical Addiction Prevention Train-the-Trainers Program. Her mission: to establish a new faith-based standard for preventing and addressing addiction within Christian communities.
Margaret opened the session by reminding attendees that addiction is a global crisis, not merely a personal failing. She outlined different schools of thought, explaining that while some define addiction as a progressive, chronic illness, others view it as a matter of personal choice. She placed special emphasis on the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) model, teaching that addiction is a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual disease that requires a holistic approach to healing.
Highlighting the critical role of knowledge in faith, Margaret quoted Hosea 4:6 “My people perish for lack of knowledge” underscoring that strong faith must be grounded in understanding. She explained how both micro (family) and macro (societal) environments contribute to addiction, and warned that parental neglect, especially emotional neglect, often leads to mental health struggles in children.
Margaret confronted difficult truths, urging parents to repent from neglecting their physical and spiritual duties, particularly addressing fathers who often leave the responsibility of godly upbringing to mothers. She connected today’s widespread societal issues to the consequences foretold in Deuteronomy 28:28, calling on families to return to God’s original order.
The atmosphere grew solemn as many parents reflected on these powerful teachings.
The Nasarawa/Kudenda KCA leader, Mr. Ibrahim Abuti, visibly moved, praised Margaret’s impactful session. Evangelist Dr. Phanuel Dzarma also expressed heartfelt appreciation, praying for increased grace and greater influence in Margaret’s ministry. Participants overwhelmingly called for continued and deeper training sessions in the future.
This program has set a new standard for the KCA Nasarawa/Kudenda Unit, planting seeds of faith-based prevention, treatment, and recovery that promise to grow across the Huba Development Association Nasarawa/Kudenda and beyond.
Distinguished guests included the Sarkin Kilba (Hoba) of Kudenda, Sarki Ada Bitrus Theman.
