The school of Health Sciences has praised the efforts of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) for bringing their campaign on gender-based violence to students.
Mr. Nurudden Bello, the Director of the School of Health Sciences in Kaduna State, North-Western Nigeria, expressed his appreciation for FIDA’s visit to the school, where they sensitized hundreds of students on how to combat gender-based violence in their classroom and communities.
He emphasized that the lectures students received would equip them with valuable knowledge on how to foster peaceful and harmonious relationships with others.
Comrade Nurudden Bello made these comments in a press release issued on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025.
He commended FIDA for dedicating time to deliver a series of impactful lectures to the students. Topics covered included how to prevent gender-based violence, improve personal hygiene, understand women’s rights in society, and promote education for young girls.
He also noted that both the staff and students of the school were thrilled with the lectures and the productive interactions between the students and members of the Women Lawyers’ Association in the state.
The school director, who is also the Director of African Climate Reporters, mentioned that the school plans to collaborate with FIDA on future initiatives aimed at raising awareness among rural and urban women, especially encouraging them to seek medical check-ups.
He added that FIDA’s visit would inspire students to stay motivated and committed to their educational goals.
Mr. Bello extended his gratitude to Mrs. Olufunke Bamikole, the Chairperson of FIDA Kaduna, for her efforts in educating the students about gender-based violence.
In her speech marking International Women’s Day, Mrs. Olufunke Bamikole explained that FIDA’s visit was part of their initiative to raise awareness among students about how to fight gender-based violence through education.
She also noted that the United Nations had designated March 8th as International Women’s Day.
She called on all stakeholders to join the campaign against gender-based violence and help curb its growing prevalence in society.
