WORLD MALARIA DAY 2025.
INTRODUCTION.


In the 1960s, malaria was retreated until the world hit a pause. Global eradication efforts were abandoned in 1969, and millions of lives were lost. It took the world about 30 good years to fight back. Please our call is to let’s not allow history to repeat itself.
KEY FACT.
597,000 malaria death in 2023.
263 million cases of malaria in 2023.
95% of all cases are in WHO African Region, with Nigeria with the highest burden of almost 45-60%
World Malaria Day is an occasion to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment to malaria prevention and control.

 

The was instituted by the World Health Organization (WHO) members states during World Health Assembly of 2007.
The theme for World Malaria Day 2025 is “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite” This theme aims to raise awareness about the urgent actions needed in the fight against malaria, emphasizing the importance of continued investment, innovation, collaboration and commitment from the global malaria eradication in our communities.
ACOMINs for the past years has been working on her part to ensure elimination of malaria by implementing various activities, programs and project alike and our programs has key into this year (2025) Theme: “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite”.
REINVEST.
Malaria is still the most dangerous and among the top leading causes of fertility (death) especially in the low income countries in the especially in Africa and Asia. This has impacted the life of pregnant women and children under five years old.


Malaria investment is not only issues but a strategic and far reaching economic and social benefit. The world target of eradicating malaria by 2030 can improve socio-economic development in the world and return to investment on the higher and all levels.

Successful partnership, collaboration and volunteerism can be a tool for eliminating malaria for sustainable developments.
It should surprises you that ACOMIN at the National level, state and CBOs under her watch has work tirelessly to build partnerships across different sector of health to eliminate malaria in Nigeria.
Increase up take of malaria commodities by accessing health facility and adhering to environmental issues that bread the vectors.
Fighting drugs resistance is all a factor contributing to the spikes of the disease, however how can we fight it? The remain that ACOMIN has been in the forefront through educating the general public by advocating, social mobilization, uptake through proper diagnosis.
ACOMIN intervention is community/grassroots mobilization, this lead to ACOMIN designing and implementing CLM i.e community led monitoring which is a key to reduction of malaria impact in the country especially among pregnant women and children under 5 year. This model is presently been implemented in 23+ state in Nigeria of which ACOMIN is running in 20 states with other Networks also in the other remaining states on the GF/CRS/ACOMIN Malaria interventions. while GF/NACA/ACOMIN A.T.M which is a combination of AIDS TB and Malaria.


ACOMIN compresses of NGOs, CSOs, FBOs, CBOs working on malaria issues in the respective states, with technical guide and supports from the ACOMIN National head office.
