Honorable Commissioner Hajiya Rabi Salisu hosted a dignified and meaningful Iftar for the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Chapter and the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) communities in Kaduna.

The event aimed to foster deeper collaboration and understanding between the media and the disability community within an inclusive setting. It promoted inclusivity and diversity, offering a platform for persons with disabilities to share their experiences and perspectives with journalists in an interactive and meaningful session during Ramadan.

The Honorable Commissioner encouraged journalists to prioritize inclusive reporting, particularly on disability issues, and to advocate for accurate representation of persons with disabilities in the media. She underscored the importance of building strong relationships and partnerships to strengthen collaboration and mutual understanding between the media and the disability community.

The leadership of the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Association shared their personal stories, emphasizing the significance of accessibility and inclusivity. The event also motivated journalists to report on disability issues responsibly and ensure accurate portrayal of persons with disabilities in the media.

The combined Iftar was a resounding success, promoting inclusivity, diversity, and understanding, while paving the way for continued partnerships between the media and the disability community. We look forward to building on this momentum to further enhance inclusivity and representation of persons with disabilities in the media.
