Support for Female Students: Hundreds of Sanitary Pads Distributed in Kaduna
The Womenhood and HAFKAS Foundation has distributed hundreds of sanitary pads to support girl-child education in Kaduna.
Mallam Nurudden Bello, Director of Womenhood College of Health Science in Kaduna, announced the distribution aimed at boosting the morale of female students and encouraging their academic pursuits.
The distribution took place on the school premises, attended by hundreds of students, particularly girls. Bello emphasized that providing sanitary pads would help girls feel more comfortable and confident while at school.
He urged all foundations across the country to support female students with sanitary pads to encourage their continued education, noting that access to these products can increase a girl’s chances of staying in school by over 30%.
Bello highlighted that sanitary pads manage menstrual flow effectively, helping women maintain comfort and hygiene during their periods. They prevent leakage and odor, allowing girls to participate in daily activities without interruption.
He concluded by stating that to adequately address menstrual needs, girls and women require access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities, affordable menstrual hygiene products, education on proper practices, and a supportive environment free from stigma.
Bello also called on female teachers to educate young girls about the importance of sanitary pads and the environmental impact of improper disposal.
