As you can see here ,Waterborne diseases are caused by drinking contaminated or dirty water from a source that was polluted. Contaminated water can cause many types of diarrheal diseases, including Cholera, and other serious illnesses such as Guinea worm disease, Typhoid, and Dysentery. Water related diseases cause 3.4 million deaths each year.
Indeed ,Every day millions of people in Africa, usually women and girls, walk miles to have access to any water at all. The length of time it takes to collect the little water they can get means that they do not have time to do anything else during the day. Children do not get the chance to have an education simply because they are too busy collecting water.
Large number of Africans die annually due to drinking contaminated water from local streams & Ponds in the region
To make matters worse, the only water they have access to is from streams and ponds. That water is usually full of diseases and makes themselves and their families very sick. Adults face the decision on a daily basis between dehydration and sickness from the water they drink. Even worse, they have to face this decision for their children.
Thousands of resident do usually migrate due to scarcity of water,so also the animals and even the aquatic lives
Unfortunately for many people in our world there is never enough water; especially clean water
The effects of drinking contaminated water can be immediate as well as long term. The immediate health effects can include nausea, lung irritation, skin rash, vomiting, dizziness, and in some cases death. Drinking contaminated water is more likely to cause long term chronic health effects. Chronic health effects include cancer, liver and kidney damage, disorders of the nervous system, damage to the immune system, and birth defects.
The fact is that the water you drink and bathe in can directly affect your health and well being. The exposure to contaminated water can be limited with some type of filtering device or disinfection system. Being exposed to Chlorine is not limited to drinking water.
There are several other ways of being exposed to chlorine. Chlorine can be absorbed through the skin while taking a shower or handling cleaning products that contain chlorine. Another common way to be exposed to chlorine is by breathing the vapors. People who take hot showers in chlorinated water are most susceptible to chlorine vapors as well as by products of chlorine. Several contaminants vaporize at high temperatures and are breathed straight into your lungs
The solution to this is to have a long –lasting water project to the communities, also African union AU has to come up with series of plans which is aimed at building more Dams and water reservoirs in the region,so as to save the region from all forms of water borne diseases and other threat related to water diseases
