The Vice Chancellor Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Ahmed Adamu says the University will continue to see the energy bill dropping as last year in May they recorded an electricity bill of N370m per month but now its drop to N240m per month.
He stated this at the Talk shop Series 5.0
organized by the Department of Local Government and Development Studies ABU, Zaria, with the Goal ” An Environmental Friendly Campus Conducive For Learning and Research”.
Professor Adamu urged students to continue managing the energy as the Director of the Institute of Administration have been complaining about the issues of lingering power supply and I took special attention by meeting KEDCO officials to address the issue and we are going to continue pushing them to do the needful.
According to him, the management are also pursuing Federal Government to give them at least 2 megawatts of sustainable energy in Kongo campus.
He hoped by next year when he come around for their graduation he will see many more projects.
The Vice Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the student for organizing the event which demonstrated how committed they are with the hope that it will continue across the Campuses.
He reminds them that ABU celebrated as the most Green Campus in Nigeria, that is why every year the University run a comprehensive Tree Planting campaign.
“To see students key in protecting environment at this critical time is worth recommendation and appreciation”.
The University have several campaigned last year to get response from staff and students, in reality students consumed the energy most becouse now every staff pays for his electricity bill but the University management dont want to increased students energy bill.
He hoped that, by next year when he come around for their graduation he will see many more projects as ABU want to see every graduating students planted at least one economic tree as his legacy
As more than thirty-five universities across Nigeria use “Critical Thought for Critical Minds” as the motto of their Mathematics Departments.
The Guest Speaker, Slhaji Adamu Mamman Kontagora, President World-wide ABU Alumni Association advised the students never to underestimate the impact of your contributions, no matter how small they may seem at the time.
He said, as students, they may not fully appreciate the significance of the ideas generated, the organisations they build, or the values they uphold.
“Yet, with time, these contributions
can transcend generations and influence institutions far beyond our immediate environment”.
“This is the enduring power of legacy.
It reminds us that each of us has the capacity to leave a positive imprint on our University and our society”.
To the students gathered he encourage them to dream boldly, think critically, and serve selflessly.
The initiative you champion today may become the tradition that guides others tomorrow.
To the alumni, let us remember that our relationship with Ahmadu Bello University did not end at graduation.
We all have something valuable to contribute towards strengthening the institution that helped shape our lives.
Indeed, the true measure of our success is not merely what we achieve for ourselves, but what we leave behind
for others
