Argungu, Kebbi State — The Make Argungu Green initiative has continued its environmental sustainability campaign with a follow-up outreach to several schools across Argungu Local Government Area, reinforcing its commitment to promoting tree planting and environmental conservation.
During the visit, the team revisited schools that received tree seedlings during the programme’s official flag-off ceremony and distributed additional seedlings to more schools to further expand the initiative.
A major highlight of the outreach was the official appointment of selected students as Green Champions. The students were assigned the responsibility of planting, watering, protecting, and monitoring the trees within their schools while encouraging their fellow students to embrace environmental stewardship and climate responsibility.
Speaking during the outreach, the Coordinator of the Make Argungu Green Programme, Comrade Haliru Abubakar Jantullu, explained the objectives and activities of the initiative. He stressed that involving students in environmental protection is a strategic step toward raising a generation that values nature, combats climate change, and contributes to a cleaner and greener Argungu.
The outreach also featured the participation of Ibrahim Umar, O.C. Partnership/Stakeholders Team Leader, who reaffirmed the importance of collaboration with schools and community stakeholders in ensuring the success and sustainability of the programme.
Also present was Ibrahim Yakubu, Secretary of the Planning and Strategy Committee, who emphasized the committee’s commitment to coordinating activities that will strengthen the impact of the initiative across the local government.
The Make Argungu Green team expressed appreciation to the managements of the participating schools, teachers, and students for their warm reception and continued support of the programme.
The initiative reaffirmed its commitment to expanding tree-planting activities and environmental education across Argungu, with the aim of creating a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future for generations to come.
