The Gombe Goes Green (3G) Initiative has conducted a tree planting and environmental sensitization programme at Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Bolari East as part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability and encourage tree planting among young people.
The programme featured an interactive awareness session where students were educated on the importance of trees in protecting the environment and improving human well-being.

Facilitators explained the role of trees in mitigating climate change, enhancing air quality, preventing soil erosion, conserving biodiversity, and creating healthier communities.
Students were also urged to become environmental ambassadors by embracing responsible tree planting and conservation practices.
As part of the exercise, members of the initiative planted selected tree seedlings within the school premises and trained students on proper seedling care, including regular watering, mulching, protection from damage, and other maintenance practices necessary for healthy growth.

The Gombe Goes Green Initiative said the programme aligns with its mission of restoring and protecting the environment through afforestation, environmental education, and active community participation.
It noted that the campaign is designed to promote sustainable environmental practices and foster a culture of environmental responsibility among the people of Gombe State, particularly the younger generation.
The initiative commended the management of GDSS Bolari East, especially the Principal and the School Farming Coordinator, for their cooperation and support in ensuring the success of the exercise.
It also expressed appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his continued commitment to environmental sustainability through the Gombe Goes Green Initiative.
According to the initiative, the programme, under the chairmanship of HRH Dr. Abubakar Atare Buba II, continues to inspire collective action towards building a cleaner, greener, and more resilient Gombe State.
