As Christians across the globe celebrate Easter following the completion of the 40-day Lenten fast, some Muslims in Kaduna State have extended warm felicitations to their Christian counterparts in a show of unity and religious harmony.
Mallam Gambo Abdullahi a resident at Barnawa in Kaduna South, paid a courtesy visit to Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru, General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Sabon Tasha, to congratulate him and the Christian community on the successful completion of Lent.
The visit, according to Abdullahi, was aimed at strengthening peaceful coexistence, deepening interfaith dialogue, and fostering mutual respect among diverse religious groups for peace and interreligious tolerance.
“During Ramadan, many Christians identify with us by sending goodwill messages and even visiting during Sallah celebrations. This visit is our own way of reciprocating that gesture,” he said.
He noted that the rare coincidence of Ramadan and Lent this year provided a unique opportunity for both Muslims and Christians to engage in spiritual reflection, sacrifice, and prayers for national peace and stability.
Abdullahi further highlighted a series of interfaith activities held across Kaduna State, including joint Iftar breakfast gatherings hosted at the residence of the late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi with former minister of youth and sport Baristar solomon Dalung, as well as events organized by the Kaduna State Government for pastors and Imams , equally the Christian-Muslim Relations Centre organise her own , and the Rotary Club of Kaduna.and also some other Iftar breakfast were organise by wealthy individual and chefdoms to sthrenthen peace and unity among the adherence of different faith base organization

He described these engagements as clear indicators of growing religious tolerance, unity, and collaboration in the state.
“We are here not only to congratulate you on Easter but also to reinforce our shared commitment to peace, unity, and understanding,” he added, while calling on religious and community leaders to sustain efforts that promote harmony and forgiveness.
In his response, Pastor Yohanna Buru expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a powerful symbol of interfaith solidarity and peace comitment
He revealed that similar goodwill messages had been received from various faith-based organizations across the country and emphasized the urgent need for Nigerians to remain prayerful and united, especially amid persistent security challenges.
The cleric also commended the efforts of both the state and federal governments in addressing insecurity and urged well-meaning Nigerians to support vulnerable populations, particularly internally displaced persons (IDPs).
In a related development, renowned interfaith advocate and peace ambassador, Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani, also congratulated Christians on the successful completion of the Lenten season.
In a statement to the press, she described Easter as a profound moment of spiritual renewal, reawakening, and rebirth for the Christian faithful.
She observed that the simultaneous observance of Ramadan and Lent this year has further strengthened bonds between Muslims and Christians, as both communities engaged in fasting, prayer, and acts of compassion.
Hajiya Tijjani called on Nigerians to sustain this spirit of unity by continuing to pray for peace and national cohesion.
She also urged the government to take proactive measures in regulating social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation capable of inciting division.
While congratulating Christians nationwide, she encouraged them to translate the lessons of sacrifice, love, and humility learned during Lent into actions that promote peace and humanitarian service.
She stressed that at a critical time like this, Nigeria’s greatest need remains peace, unity, and collective responsibility.
