Gombe State ACReSAL has intensified efforts to restore degraded landscapes, improve urban greenery, and expand environmental interventions through supervision of existing plantations and identification of new project sites.

The Project Coordinator, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺𝘂 𝗝𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗼, led the ACReSAL team and representatives of 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 & 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗟𝘁𝗱 on an inspection of roadside plantations stretching from behind the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), through the Police Headquarters, to the FCE (T) roundabout.

The team also assessed the landfill site near the Waste-to-Wealth Recycling Plant along Bajoga Road to identify suitable areas for reclamation through the planting of tree species capable of absorbing heavy metals, restoring soil quality, serving as windbreaks, and controlling erosion.

The inspection concluded at BAP 4, behind Pen Resources Secondary School, New GRA, where the team evaluated the growth and health of planted trees and post-planting management practices to promote survival and long-term environmental benefits.

These interventions are expected to improve urban aesthetics, enhance vegetation cover, reduce land degradation, and contribute to a healthier and more resilient environment.

Dr. Jauro commended the Gombe State Governor, 𝗠𝘂𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱𝘂 𝗜𝗻𝘂𝘄𝗮 𝗬𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘆𝗮 for supporting the implementation of the project.

On Thursday, 22 October 2026, the team conducted a separate site identification exercise at Tsauni Village, near Kalchingi, alongside the community head, Hon. Bello Sulaiman Kumo, Chairman of Akko Amada LCDA, the Managing Director of Katilis Company, and ACReSAL project staff.

Hon. Kumo commended the state government for extending development interventions to the area and urged residents to support and protect the planned investment to ensure its sustainability.

The community also expressed appreciation for the proposed intervention, highlighting its potential to improve local environmental conditions, protect livelihoods, and create a safer and healthier environment for children and future generations.

The two activities reflect Gombe State ACReSAL’s dual commitment to ensuring the sustainability of ongoing environmental investments and extending the benefits of environmental restoration to more communities through climate-resilient and community-supported development.
