The Jewel Environmental Initiative, JEI, has joined the Gombe State Students Association, GOSSA, to commence activities marking the 30th anniversary of Gombe State.
The organisations kicked off the celebration with a symbolic tree-planting campaign at the Gombe State Ministry of Education.
The campaign, which runs from September 29 to October 2, 2026, is aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and youth participation while highlighting the importance of climate action in the state.
The initiative also focuses on raising awareness among young people on the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of mental health.
According to JEI, the tree-planting exercise symbolises a collective commitment towards building a greener, healthier and more resilient Gombe State.
The organisation said the 30th anniversary provides an opportunity not only to celebrate the state’s achievements over the past three decades, but also to invest in environmental protection and the future of its younger generation.
Gombe State was created in 1996 and is marking 30 years of existence in 2026.
