Mobilization for Empowerment and Development Association of Nigeria (MEDAN) participated in the General Meeting of the Civil Society for Cancer Advocacy and Prevention (CISCAP) held on 27th February 2026 at the Nigeria Red Cross Hall, Kaduna. The meeting brought together Civil Society Organizations and stakeholders committed to strengthening cancer advocacy, prevention, and community awareness initiatives.

During the meeting, members were informed of the formal registration and operational establishment of CISCAP, including the opening of its official bank account with Zenith Bank Plc to ensure transparency and accountability. The meeting also resolved to adopt the existing leadership as the Board of Trustees, while a new state executive structure was nominated to coordinate activities and interventions for 2026.
Discussions also focused on membership structure, registration procedures, and collaborative frameworks to strengthen civil society participation in cancer prevention efforts. Member organizations were encouraged to formally register, contribute to the sustainability of the platform, and actively support awareness and advocacy programs across communities.
MEDAN reaffirmed its commitment to supporting cancer prevention, public health awareness, and community empowerment, emphasizing the importance of partnership among civil society organizations in addressing the growing burden of cancer in Nigeria. The organization remains dedicated to working with CISCAP and other stakeholders to expand community education, advocacy, and preventive health interventions aimed at reducing cancer-related risks and improving public health outcomes.
