In a united effort to advance climate education and promote environmental sustainability, youth leaders in Abia State have successfully conducted a three-day tree planting campaign across major local government areas, engaging eight secondary schools from 15th to 17th October 2025.

The initiative, coordinated by the Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative (GECCI) in collaboration with Amazu Impact Hub, Rimrock Properties and Tours, and the Youth Aid Development Initiatives (YADI), focused on empowering students with practical knowledge of climate change adaptation and environmental stewardship.
During the outreach, students participated in interactive sessions on climate education, biodiversity protection, and sustainable living. The campaign culminated in the planting of tree seedlings within school premises—symbolizing the students’ commitment to protecting the planet.

Speaking on the success of the project, AMB. Queen Amazu, the campaign coordinator, stated:
“Our goal is to nurture a generation that not only understands the effects of climate change but actively participates in solutions that restore our environment.
Abia youths have once again proven that change begins with action.”
The campaign aligns with the Abia State Government’s environmental vision, following recent approval for large-scale tree planting and urban greening initiatives across the state.
This youth-led movement stands as a model for grassroots climate action, inspiring schools, communities, and institutions to integrate environmental education and sustainability into their daily culture.
