Christian Clergy Express Condolences Over Death of J.N.I Leader Alhaji Jafaru Makarfi in kaduna

The General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Kaduna, Pastor (Dr.) Yohanna Buru, together with other prominent Christian leaders from northern Nigeria, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the Muslim Ummah worldwide following the sudden death of Alhaji Jafaru Makarfi, the former Kaduna State Chairman of Jama’atul Nasrul Islam (JNI) kaduna state north western Nigeria.

Alhaji Jafaru Makarfi, a respected Islamic leader and public servant, passed away in Kaduna at the age of 93, leaving behind a legacy of peace-building and interreligious harmony and the act of spreading the message of forgiveness and tolerance

His death has left the nation in mourning, especially for those who benefited from his efforts towards promoting unity and understanding between faith communities in Nigeria.

In their condolence messages, Pastor (Dr) Buru and the Christian clergy extended their sympathies to the Muslim community in Kaduna State and beyond.

They described the late Makarfi as an icon of peace who dedicated his life time to resolving religious conflicts and fostering cooperation between Christians and Muslims ,and other faith base organization for peace and stability in the state and the region at large

Pastor Buru, reflecting on the late Makarfi’s impact, stated, “Kaduna has lost a great icon in peace-building and interreligious harmony.”

He recalled how Alhaji Makarfi, along with other influential Christian leaders like Elder Saidu Dogo of Northern CAN , had mentored him in promoting peaceful coexistence and strengthening relationships between the two faiths.

Alhaji Makarfi’s contributions were not only limited to peace-building efforts but also encompassed significant roles in public service, including his tenure as a commissioner in the defunct Kaduna State.

His leadership within JNI played a crucial part in fostering religious tolerance and creating an atmosphere of mutual respect in northern Nigeria.

Pastor Buru and other clergy members expressed prayers for the soul of Alhaji Makarfi, asking for divine blessings and that he be granted Al-Jannah firdausi (paradise).

Pastor George John, in his tribute, described Alhaji Makarfi as a man of peace and unity who had trained many in the ways of interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

He personally acknowledged the wisdom and lessons he had gained from the late leader on how to navigate religious differences with grace and understanding for peace and unity in the land

Pastor Joel Zigo, also of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, urged both Muslims and Christians in the state to honor Makarfi’s legacy by continuing to live in peace and harmony.

The Christian clergy, while offering their condolences to Makarfi’s family, friends, and the entire JNI community, also sent their sympathies to the national headquarters of Jama’atul Nasrul Islam in Kaduna, praying for strength and comfort during this difficult time
