Breaking Barriers: Youth Empowerment Key to Combating Ethnic Conflicts

The Peace Revival and Reconciliation Foundation of Nigeria, led by its national president, has launched an ongoing campaign aimed at empowering youth to spearhead peace-building initiatives in local communities. This effort seeks to enhance social cohesion and unity in multi-ethnic areas.

Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru highlights the critical need for peace education among young people, emphasizing the importance of tolerance to foster understanding among various faith-based organizations.

He believes that dialogue and peace education can significantly reduce ethnic violence.

To amplify these messages, Buru advocates for robust media campaigns. He encourages the use of social media, radio, television, and print to promote peace and cultural understanding, stressing the role of dialogue in resolving conflicts while spreading peace messages through media organization both online and offline

He calls upon local leaders and influencers to champion peace initiatives and facilitate discussions within their communities, reinforcing the message of peaceful coexistence.

In his efforts, Dr. Buru has utilized places of worship and cultural organizations to promote interfaith dialogue and cultural exchange programs centered on peace education.

He urges community members to address the root causes of ethnic conflicts through comprehensive education and constructive Dialogue

The campaigns which starts since last week is aims to establish a foundation for lasting peace and stability, recognizing that true peace requires more than mere conflict resolution; it demands a transformative approach that engages and empowers individuals at all societal levels.

The foundation envisions a future characterized by mutual respect, understanding, and harmony, where dialogue and peace education lay the groundwork for resilient communities capable of overcoming challenges together.

Furthermore, Buru announced the launch of youth-led initiatives designed to encourage young people to actively participate in peace-building efforts. These initiatives include leadership training, community events, and campaigns promoting tolerance and reconciliation.

As these efforts unfold, the foundation remains committed to breaking the cycle of violence and prejudice, working toward a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

He called on youths across the state to shun all forms of violence

Gumbo appealed to state government to empowers youths with skill acquisition in order to fight against poverty, idleness, and creat massive job opportunities
