Kaduna Peace Advocate Lauds Mercy Corps & Peace Commission for Empowering 100 Women in Peace ,Security & conflict resolution

Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani, the National President of the Women’s Wing of the Peace Revival and Reconciliation Foundation of Nigeria(PRRFON), expressed her delight over the recent one-day workshop focusing on women in peace and security held in Kaduna.

Tijjani, who attended the workshop, commended the efforts of Mercy Corps, the Kaduna State Peace Commission, and other implementing partners of the USAID-Funded Community Initiatives to Promote Peace (CIPP) Program, including the Interfaith Mediation Center and Pastoral Resolved and ARDA, for organizing such a valuable program.

Tijjani highlighted the significance of the workshop in enhancing the leadership and participation of women in peace and security initiatives within the state.

She emphasized that the workshop provided attendees with valuable insights and diverse approaches to promoting peacebuilding and resolving conflicts within their communities.

The one-day workshop deliberated on new strategies aimed at enhancing and broadening the involvement of women in conflict resolution and peacebuilding activities. Drawing from the experiences gained through the CIPP program implemented over the past five years, participants explored modalities for sustaining the gains achieved through the  project.

Expressing her gratitude for being part of the program, Tijjani urged for increased support and encouragement for women engaged in peacebuilding efforts.

She extended her appreciation to the Kaduna Peace Commission, Mercy Corps, Interfaith Mediation Center, and other stakeholders for their efforts in organizing the workshop dedicated to women in peacebuilding.

Tijjani, who serves as the National President of the Foundation for the Protection of Women and Children in Nigeria, called for additional training opportunities for women across both rural and urban centers spanning the 23 local government areas in Kaduna.

Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of securing more funding for women-led projects focused on peacebuilding.

The Peace Ambassador recognized by numerous organizations in Nigeria, Tijjani underscored the urgent need to empower more women to actively participate in peacebuilding endeavors.

The event, part of the USAID-Funded CIPP Program, highlighted innovative strategies to bolster women’s leadership in conflict resolution. Tijjani, an esteemed Peace Ambassador, emphasizes the need for ongoing support and training to amplify women’s impact in building sustainable peace across Kaduna’s diverse communities.
