Pastor yohanna buru, the general overseer of Christ evangelical and life intervention ministry kaduna state north western Nigeria has kick- off one week campaigns toward raising awareness to local farmers and sellers on the importance of eating healthy food to live longer and healthy in this planet
This is coming as the world mark no tobacco Day 31th may 2023.
The Nigerian pastor lunched the campaign at a central market of kaduna state north western Nigeria with the aims of educating the general public on the dangers associated with cigarettes smoking while encouraging the poor to be eating good food to look healthy.
The campaigns which is going to last for One week is expected to raise awareness to Millions of people residing in the northern cities of Nigeria both in rural and urban centers.
His Team of volunteer campaigners are expected to visit markets, bus station, railway, football stadium, ,
He note that they are going to take advocacy visit to ministry of health, religion leaders, Temple and community youth Club’s to sensitise U the public on harmful effects of cigarette smoking across the region
Pastor yohanna buru says Smoking also harms the environment and contributes to climate change. On the other hand, food is essential for our health and wellbeing.
A healthy diet can reduce the risk of chronic diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. It can also boost our immune system and improve our mental health.
Adding that, eating good food can also boost our immune system and improve our mental health
This year’s theme is “Web need food, not tobacco”.
The 2023 global campaign aims to raise awareness about alternative crop production and marketing opportunities for tobacco farmers and encourage them to grow sustainable, nutritious crops.
It will also aim to expose the tobacco industry’s efforts to interfere with attempts to substitute tobacco growing with sustainable crops, thereby contributing to the global food crisis.
Tobacco growing and production exacerbates food insecurity
The growing food crisis is driven by conflicts and wars, climatic shocks, and the economic and social impacts
The Christian cleric vow to used the week while educating millions of Nigerians through local Radio station and television with social media about religion ways of having good and healthy living through eating food that can boost the immune system.
He then called on youth to shun all forms of cigarettes smoking at ghetto, while encouraging them to embrace farming in order to support the country with food and fight against global increase food prices
Pastor yohanna buru also mobilises over 50 Christian and Muslims clergys to equally used place’s of worship to educate their followers the importance of eating good food while discouraging youths against all forms of cigarettes smoking in communities
