POST COP26 YOUTH CONFERENCE IN NIGERIA’S NORTH-EAST ZONE.
The UN Information Center Nigeria, in collaboration with the GECCI, hosted the conference at the NEW MPH in Gombe State University, Nigeria. On February 8, 2022.
Prof. Robinson I. Ejilah, Department of Mechanical Engineering at ATBU Bauchi, delivered a keynote speech on his topic, “Beyond COP26 What have we achieved and what human Imfact on the environment?” and Dr. Saed Idris, Senior Lecturer at Federal University Kashere Bauchi, delivered a keynote speech on his topic, “Climate Change causes, effects and the youth opportunities in Nigeria” and other programs such as panelist discussions with Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Abdullahi, Dr. Abdullahi Bappa Garkuwa, Dr. Ahmed Abdullahi, Dr. Ahmed Chinede, Zainab Lawan Hassan and question-and-answer sessions. Theme: COP26 Outcome: Where Do We Go From Here?
At the conference, they were joined by Our Father and special guest of honor, Alh. Muhammad Hamza (Tafidan Nafada), Federal Commissioner, Federal Character Commission, representing Gombe State; the P.S Ministry of Environment, Gombe State was represented by the Gombe State Desk Officer for Climate Change, Hauwa Muhammad, DG BASEPA, Dr. Ibrahim Kabir, GM Bauchi State Toursim Board, Malam Nasiru Muhammad, and young advocates, entrepreneurs, researchers, students, academia, CSOs, NGOs, and other change-makers, including leading experts who attended COP26 in person and other dignitaries from relevant sectors across the North East Zone.
We would also like to sincerely thank the organizers of the conference, and in particular, GECCI North East Director Amb. Dayyabu Musa, the project-led team, Amb. Umar S. Hamza and their team, for organizing this conference SO PERFECTLY.
