A Geography student of Kaduna State University, Derick Ayelo Samson, alongside the Head of Communication and Strategies of African Climate Reporters, Comrade Ibrahima Yakubu, has visited a gully erosion site in Unguwan Salamu Alaikum, Mando, in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The visit was aimed at assessing the extent of the gully erosion and its impact on houses and other properties within the community.
During the assessment, the team observed the growing erosion channel, which poses a potential threat to residential buildings and the safety of residents, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

The assessment is expected to draw attention to the environmental challenges facing the community and the need for urgent measures to control further expansion of the erosion site.

The team also stressed the importance of proper drainage systems, erosion control measures and community-based environmental protection to prevent further damage to homes and infrastructure.
