The Kaduna State Climate Change Accountability Mechanism (KADCCAM) has reinforced its strategic engagement with the Kaduna State Elders Climate Change Forum as part of ongoing efforts to combat environmental pollution and strengthen climate advocacy across Kaduna State.
During a courtesy visit to Tudun Wada on Sunday 23rd February 2026, the National President of the Forum, Alhaji Dr. Idris Musa, Shatiman Gundumar Tudun Wada Kaduna, assured KADCCAM of the forum’s unwavering support in mobilizing communities against climate-related challenges, including desertification, deforestation, gully erosion, flooding, and poor waste management practices.

Alhaji Dr. Musa disclosed that the forum comprises over 100 elderly citizens drawn from various communities, all committed to supporting government initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions, particularly those linked to waste pollution and transportation activities.
He highlighted the forum’s grassroots sensitization campaigns, which focus on discouraging the burning of refuse at dump sites and educating residents living near riverbanks on flood prevention and environmental safety measures.
The forum leader also applauded the Kaduna State Government for reinstating the monthly environmental sanitation exercise and launching Operation Tsafta Aim, describing the initiatives as timely interventions to promote environmental cleanliness and responsible waste disposal.
According to him, members of the forum are actively promoting tree planting and afforestation programmes within their communities to protect forests from the growing threats of charcoal production, firewood exploitation, and illegal logging.
While expressing gratitude for the visit, Alhaji Dr. Musa reaffirmed the forum’s readiness to collaborate closely with KADCCAM in advancing environmental sustainability and building a more resilient Kaduna State.

Responding, Ibrahima Yakubu, Co-Chair of KADCCAM, explained that the mechanism serves as a multi-stakeholder accountability platform established by the Kaduna State Government to enhance climate governance and ensure effective implementation of climate policies.
He emphasized that KADCCAM brings together government agencies, civil society organizations, the media, academia, and community actors to drive coordinated climate action.
Yakubu commended the Kaduna State Elders Climate Change Forum for its proactive community engagement and praised the influential role of senior citizens in shaping positive environmental behavior and strengthening climate awareness at the grassroots level.
