Ramadan/Lent: Kaduna Pastor Visits Top Islamic Scholars Delivering Tafsir to Strengthen Ties

As Christians and Muslims observe the sacred seasons of Lent and Ramadan, Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru has embarked on visits to prominent Islamic scholars delivering Tafsir in Kaduna State to strengthen interfaith relations and promote peaceful coexistence.

Pastor Buru, a United Nations award recipient for his contributions to World Interfaith Harmony Week and the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, said the visits were aimed at exchanging goodwill and reinforcing the bond between the two faith communities during this spiritually significant period.

According to him, the coincidence of Lent and Ramadan this year presents a unique opportunity for Muslims and Christians to deepen mutual understanding and solidarity.

He explained that he was accompanied by other Christian scholars to extend greetings and foster stronger relationships with their Muslim counterparts.

He emphasized that such engagements encourage dialogue as an effective tool for conflict resolution, while promoting shared values of peace, tolerance, and unity , a vision he described as the “Kaduna Peace Model.”

During the visits, Pastor Buru also met with Islamic scholars in the Rigasa community to felicitate with Muslims as they commenced the 30-day fasting period.

He expressed appreciation to Sheikh Ibrahim , Sheikh Usman Dahiru Bauchi for the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas on peaceful coexistence and promoting religious tolerance

Similarly,Reverend Titus ishaya also said,we came to greet the Islamic scholar delivering Tafsir and to strengthen good relationships

Saying,we listen to their Tafsir at home through the radio

In their response, the Islamic scholars commended Pastor Buru and his delegation for the gesture, describing the visit as a positive step toward strengthening interfaith harmony and mutual respect.
