Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru, General Overseer of the Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry and recipient of the United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week Award (2022), has applauded former members of the Hausa Service of the Voice of America (VOA) for establishing a new global Hausa-language radio station.

In a statement released to the press on Thursday evening, Pastor Buru praised the team for their resilience and dedication to quality journalism after their disengagement from the VOA.

“It saddened us when President Trump ordered the shutdown of Voice of America, but we are happy to once again listen to your news through this new Hausa radio station,” he said.

Pastor Buru congratulated the former VOA journalists for their bold initiative, describing their action as a clear demonstration of courage, professionalism, and passion for the media.

“Your decision to continue broadcasting despite the challenges is truly inspiring. Life must go on, and your efforts have shown great commitment to truth, service, and community education,” he noted.

He further described the new radio project as a beacon of hope for millions of Hausa speakers around the world, adding that their dedication will continue to uplift and inform audiences globally.

“You are the true heroes of 2025. Your actions carry powerful lessons for others facing similar challenges. You refused to let your dreams and passion die — instead, you turned adversity into opportunity,” Pastor Buru said.

He called on Hausa radio listeners both online and offline to support and regularly tune in to the new station, emphasizing the importance of independent journalism and credible reporting.

“You are broadcasting heroes who refused to fade away. You have been reborn through this new platform, armed with experience and a renewed sense of purpose. We will continue to pray for your success and God’s blessings,” he added.

Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru concluded by congratulating the team once again, urging other young journalists to learn from their determination and creativity.

“May God bless your efforts abundantly as you continue to educate, inform, and inspire through your programs. Congratulations, and may you achieve even greater success,” he said.
