KADUNA, North-West Nigeria – The Safety Awareness and Environmental Support Initiative (SAESI), in collaboration with the Kaduna State Government, has launched the project “Kaduna Must Be Clean and Safe for the Betterment of the Citizens.”
During a media briefing in Kaduna on Saturday, Yahaya Muhammed, the Controller General Safety (CGS) of SAESI, explained that the project aims to tackle indiscriminate waste disposal by citizens and road users, as well as ensure the proper evacuation of waste by Private Service Providers (PSPs).
“We are pleased to inform the residents of Kaduna State, PSPs, corporate organizations, mechanics, motor parks, and interstate commuters that the Executive Governor, Senator Uba Sani, through the Hon. Commissioner for Environment, Abubakar Buba, and all members of the ministry, has launched the project titled ‘Kaduna Must Be Clean and Safe for the Betterment of the Citizens,'” he stated.
Muhammed emphasized that SAESI officers will be actively present across the state to educate and monitor both residents and service providers on the importance of maintaining a safe and clean environment.
He noted that the project’s success relies on community involvement, urging citizens to fulfill their corporate social responsibilities by managing drainage systems properly and utilizing the waste bags supplied by Ecoblue to reduce littering.
The SAESI leader cautioned residents against disposing of waste at media separators, particularly in areas such as Sabo Tasha, Kawo New Extension, and Television, warning that offenders will face legal consequences. He also urged households to regularly clear their drainages and warned against channeling human waste into gutters and drainage systems.
Muhammed appealed to Kaduna residents to maintain a clean and safe environment, stating that it would make Governor Uba Sani proud to lead law-abiding citizens. “We are ready as SAESI officers to fulfill our mandate,” he affirmed.
In a related statement, Dr. Abdul Isiaq, Special Adviser to the Governor on Stakeholders, praised SAESI for its environmental efforts. He highlighted that, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, led by Abubakar Buba, SAESI had previously assisted in clearing gutters during the rainy season.
“This launch is essential because everyone desires a clean environment. Ensuring public health and safety is a priority for Governor Uba Sani, who is committed to these efforts,” he said. “This is part of our campaign promises to provide a clean environment, and we are dedicated to achieving this goal.”
