The Safety Awareness and Environmental Support Initiative (SAESI) extends heartfelt congratulations to Muslims across Nigeria and around the world as they celebrate Maulud, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In a statement released to the press on Saturday, 6th September 2025, the Controller General of Safety (CGS), Yahaya Muhammed, conveyed his warm wishes to the Muslim community, encouraging reflection, unity, and a renewed commitment to environmental stewardship.

CGS Yahaya Muhammed used the occasion to remind all citizens of the importance of safeguarding the environment, especially in the face of increasing ecological challenges such as flooding and pollution.

“This celebration offers an opportunity to reflect on our shared responsibility to protect the environment,” he stated. “Communities must take proactive measures to reduce risks by keeping their surroundings clean and refraining from practices that lead to environmental degradation.”

He stressed the urgent need for residents, particularly in Kaduna State, to remain vigilant, as River Kaduna has risen to dangerous levels, posing an imminent flood risk. Residents living along riverbanks, in low-lying, flood-prone, or waterlogged areas are strongly advised to relocate to safer, higher ground immediately.

Public Safety Advisory:
Prevention over response remains SAESI’s guiding principle.

The protection of lives and property must be prioritized.

Relief materials can never replace lost lives.

The CGS also commended all stakeholders, volunteers, and humanitarian groups for their continued efforts in raising awareness about the dangers of dumping waste into gutters and waterways.

He concluded by once again congratulating Muslims on the joyous occasion of Maulud and reaffirmed SAESI’s commitment to promoting an environmentally safe and disaster-resilient nation.
