InternationalEnvironment day; Kaduna horticulturist vows planting onemillion trees to combat desertification & climate change

In his effort to support state and federal Government on the fight against desertification, deforestation,soil and River Bank erosion,Climate change and all form of environmental degredation across the country.

The chairman and founder of Teku international farm kaduna Alhaji Ibrahim salisu has embark on planting seeds and trees with the aims of reducing carbon emission that is causing air pollution in the country.

He said,stated this at his farm while lunching the project Tagged ;save Nigeria forestry against increasing extinction of plant and animal species due to climate change and human irrational activities.

The founder says, Planting billions of trees across the world is one of the biggest and cheapest ways of taking CO2 out of the atmosphere to tackle the climate crisis and other environmental challenges

According to him, he has started this project of planting one billion treess to support African union AU and European Union on the fight against Global warming and desertification problems that is turning most of the agricultural farm into desert sahara since 2 years backs.

He note that Trees are an important part of every community which include Our streets, parks, playgrounds and backyards are lined with trees that create a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment.

Adding that Trees increase our quality of life by bringing natural elements and wildlife habitats into urban settings.

He said,Trees control climate by moderating the effects of the sun, rain and wind. Leaves absorb and filter the sun’s radiant energy, keeping things cool in summer.

Trees also preserve warmth by providing a screen from harsh wind. In addition to influencing wind speed and direction

He said, every year when celebrating International forestry day and desertification day , he usually organizes big event and at the end of it, he donate trees for free to all the participant that attend the celebration.

Furthermore, every year, he donate thousands of trees to schools, places of worship, Government,traditional title holders,NGos,CSOs,corporate organization,volunteers to enabled him joint in the trees planting campaighn

Meanwhile African climate reporters that visited him at the farm land applauded his effort while stressing to support the implementation of the project

Comrade mohammed zakari, who is one of the Director of the Non Governmental organization that fight against environmental degradation say ,it is necessary for every stakeholders in Africa to emulate this gesture in order to save the African forestry against increasing environmental challenges that are contributing to the daily lost of lives and other health challenges

He said , Every year the world uses up to 5 trillion plastic bags. That’s nearly 10 million plastic bags every minute!

These single use plastics soften end up in the ocean and in landfills, destroying precious ecosystems.

This has to stop!

Mohammed said every 5th June is world international environment day and the theme for this year is reducing biodiversity
