Breast cancer; Health NGO takes sensitization campaign to home of destitute ,in other to raise awareness and to encourage cancer survivors .

The founder of a Non-governmental organization (Women 4 women) Comrade Maryam Abubakar has mobilizes medical Doctors, nurses and other health volunteer to home of persons with disability in kaduna state ,so as to sensitizes , encourage breast cancer survivors , and to educate women with disability about the cancer, sign and symptoms and preventives ways.

Maryam says Majority of women destitute that are living in the house at Kano Road kaduna are not really aware of what breast cancer is all about, and that according to her, they need to know that Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women world-wide.

She said Breast cancer is the most common invasive cancer in women, and the second main cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.

“we came to meet with breast cancer survivors, and to meet with other women in the house, so as to give them medical advices “
“we also came to meet with other women which are street beggars, blind women and other once in the house,in other to sensitizes them about preventive ways ”

She said, we must join hands to raise more awareness to these category of women in view of the health challenges they faces due to their nature.

Maryam added that Awareness of the symptoms and the need for screening are important ways of reducing the risk among women.

She says treatment of the cancer depend on the type of breast cancer, the stage of the cancer, sensitivity to hormone,and the patient’s age, overall health, and preferences.

She further pointed out that preventives ways include avoiding excess alcohol consumption ,getting enough exercise ,
The organization (women 4 women) is planning taking her campaign to secondary schools and other higher institutes across the states.

Maryam concluded by saying all the team that toke part of the campaign are dress in A pink shirt and ribbon which symbolizes breast cancer awareness

Maryam musa is one of the women in destitute home in kaduna that attended the lectures on breast cancer.
She expressed satisfaction and then thanks the organization for remembering them

Maryam says ,no one has ever comes to this house of Destitute and talk to them about breast Cancer,
She says there are some women in the house that are having Breast cancer diseases and they are afraid of coming closer to her due to lack of awareness of what causes the diseases.

Maryam says”we need to know how to prevent our serves and tell of women on all the sign and symptoms of the disease”

Responding also Mallam samaila abdullahi ,one of the leader of the kaduna state association of persons with disability says They are really grateful for the lectures and hoping that one day ministry of health will remember them.

He then called on other NGOs,CSOs, UNICEF and other Humanitarian organization to always remembered person with disability in every things they do.
