A part from, Human Attack on Elephant, Climate change leaves the animals at risk of drought, disease and death as the heat causes freshwater supplies to dwindle, infectious diseases to spread faster and brings with it one of the biggest killers of elephants in Africa.

As a result of climate change ,young elephant in the region are finding it extremely difficult to adapt and survived the climatic harsh weather

Indeed ,Despite a ban on the international trade in ivory, African elephants are still being poached in large numbers. Tens of thousands of elephants are being killed every year for their ivory tusks. The ivory is often carved into ornaments and jewellery – China is the biggest consumer market for such products.

According to African right activist in Kenya, Mr john more, All African Climatologist and African Union AU with Civil societies in the region have to emback on sensitizing the people of the region on dangers of global warming and desertification
“If You visit African game reserves or Zoo, you certainly believed that there is a serious reduction of Elephant and other wild life in the region due to Human factors and Climate, and these two factors continuously contribute to the reduction of African Elephant “

Elephant life spans are similar to humans, but that is not the only similarity. Studying how climate change can affect elephant behaviour could provide an insight into how humans will react under changing environmental conditions.

Most elephant habitat still extends outside protected areas, and the rapid growth of human populations and the extension of agriculture into rangelands and forests formerly considered unsuitable for farming mean that elephant habitat is continuing to be lost.

There has been little previous research into how long-lived species will adapt to climate change, since the time required to study generations of these animals exceeds the lifespan of most scientists

As human populations expand, more land is being converted to agriculture. So elephant habitat is shrinking and becoming more fragmented, and people and elephants are increasingly coming into contact – and conflict – with each other.

African Climate reporter therefore ,deem it fit to sensitize Africans on the importance of protecting lives of these Elephant ;so as to help in preserving them for Future ,or else there will be a day in Africa, were you will discover that most of the Elephant were missing.
